PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new organic material capable of activating anaerobic microorganisms (dechlorination bacteria) and promoting purification in a technique for purifying the organic chlorine compounds in soil or underground water using the anaerobic microorganisms.SOLUTION: There is provided a purifying promotor for contamination due to organic chlorine compounds, which includes a yeast extract comprising an enzyme degradation product of a yeast obtained by treating the yeast with the actinomycete- and/or basidiomycete-producing enzymes. There is also provided a method for purifying contamination due to organic chlorine compounds using the promotor.
