PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ester-based lubricant base oil for fluid bearings, reduced in decomposition of the lubricant base oil in using a spindle motor, and a spindle motor using the lubricant base oil.SOLUTION: A mixed ester including at a specific ratio 2,4-diethyl pentanediol diester and 3-methyl-1,5-pentanediol diester is used as a lubricant base oil for fluid bearings.
