PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermotropic liquid crystal polyester which enables the production efficiency of the thermotropic liquid crystal polyester to be enhanced.SOLUTION: A method for producing a thermotropic liquid crystal polyester is characterized in that a low polymerization degree thermotropic liquid crystal polyester powder having a melting point of 240-330°C obtained by discharge in a molten state from a reaction vessel, solidification by cooling, and comminution is fluidized in a vibrated reactor in at least the vertical direction and subjected to solid phase polymerization.
