Disclosed is a backlight module driving method for a liquid crystal display, comprising: by virtue of a comparison circuit, comparing the signal magnitudes of a soft start signal and a preset signal, and according to the comparison result, generating a first comparison signal or a second comparison signal; according to the first comparison signal, allowing a frequency modulation circuit (210) to output a first frequency; and according to the first frequency, increasing the rise speed of the output voltage of a voltage boost circuit (220). The present invention can increase the voltage rise speed of an output voltage, so as to solve the problem of image flicker.
