An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having a built-in photo sensor is provided to remove the necessity to ensure an area for installing a special photo sensor, and reduce external visibility and power consumption by controlling a back light unit of the LCD according to a size of external brightness. A photo sensor(150,151) is installed in a boundary between a display area(120) and a non-display area(130). An LC(Liquid Crystal) panel(100) is electrically connected with the photo sensor, and includes a signal processor(156,157) which is made from poly silicon and generates a control signal corresponding to a value of brightness sensed by the photo sensor. According to the control signal of the signal processor, a back light unit(180) controls brightness of light irradiated to the LC panel. The photo sensor includes first to third photo sensor, first to third signal processor and a comparing unit. |
