PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly maintain a moisture content in a fuel battery while restraining power consumption of an auxiliary machine.SOLUTION: The fuel battery system comprises: a fuel battery 2 for generating power by supplying fuel gas to an anode and supplying oxidant gas to a cathode; a radiator circulation path C1 for conducting and circulating a refrigerant to the fuel battery 2 and a radiator 8; and a bypass circulation path C2 for conducting the refrigerant to the fuel battery 2 without conducting it to the radiator 8. In a fuel battery starting method, when starting the fuel battery 2, if a temperature of the refrigerant is not more than a first temperature threshold, the refrigerant is conducted to the bypass circulation path C2, and if the temperature of the refrigerant exceeds the first temperature threshold, the refrigerant is conducted to the radiator circulation path C1. The temperature of the fuel battery 2 is detected. When the detected temperature of the fuel battery 2 is not more than a second temperature threshold set lower than the first temperature threshold, the refrigerant is intermittently conducted to the bypass circulation path C2. |
