PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional shape input apparatus that can easily input a three-dimensional shape of an object and a shape retrieval system by which attribute information of the object can be easily retrieved.SOLUTION: A three-dimensional shape input apparatus includes: a transparent stage body 11a on which an object 1 is mounted; a first light source 12 for illuminating the object 1 with light from the above; first shadow input means 13 arranged at a position facing the first light source 12 with the stage body 11a being interposed therebetween; a second light source 14 for illuminating the object 1 with light from the side; second shadow input means 15 arranged at a position facing the second light source 14 with the object 1 being interposed therebetween; and support means 16 for rotatably supporting the second light source 14 and the second shadow input means 15. Information on shadows respectively acquired by illuminating the object 1 from two directions and information on a shadow acquired by illuminating the object 1 from another one direction orthogonal to the two directions are inputted by using the first shadow input means 13 and the second shadow input means 15.
