PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing unit for a railroad vehicle capable of preventing the deformation and damage of a press-fitting member when press-fitted and extracted even if a thin press-fitting member is used, and to provide a method for extracting the press-fitting member.SOLUTION: In a bearing unit 10 for a railroad vehicle, a rear cover 30 as a member to be press-fitted has: a seat surface 32 into which a second slinger 42 of a seal device 40 as a press-fitting member is press-fitted; a backup surface 33 that positions a press-fitting position of the second slinger 42; a shoulder part 34 that forms the backup surface 33; and a D-shaped notched part 35 that is formed on an outer circumferential surface of the shoulder part 38 so that the two or four D-shaped notched parts are evenly distributed in the outer circumference. |
