H:/pI/Uenvoven/NRPonbl/DCC/PLW/5589400 _i.doc-15/10/2013 -7 A washer system for use in conjunction with a bolt or other threaded fastening for fixing a component to an internally-threaded fitting cast into a concrete component, the washer system comprising a primary washer having a cylindrical inner part engageable within a circular aperture in a component to be fixed, a head part of larger diameter to sit against an exposed surface of the component to be fixed, and an aperture extending through the primary washer for receiving the fastening, the aperture being of elongate form diametrically of the washer, the head part including locking formations engageable with said surface when the fastening is tightened, a secondary washer for receiving the threaded fastening, the secondary washer being adapted to lie against an outer surface of the head part of the primary washer and being moveable relative to the primary washer to locate the fastening along the elongate aperture, the facing surfaces of the primary and secondary washers being configured for interlocking engagement when the fastening is tightened, wherein a cylindrical surface of the inner part of the primary washer includes projections for locking inter-engagement with the peripheral wall of the aperture in the component to be fixed under the effect of shear loading applied to the primary washer in use whereby to prevent rotation of the primary washer under that load condition. v/ H:/plw/Interwoven/NRPortbl/DCC/PLW/5587064 .doc - 15/10/13 |
