PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible surface-like heater, and a method of heating a metal member using the same, which has flexibility and is capable of controlling temperature distribution across the entire heated object almost uniformly, and further, increasing the speed of temperature rising.SOLUTION: In a flexible surface-like heater 10, a plurality of flat insulator blocks 1 made from heat-resistant insulating body, with two electric heating wire insert holes provided in parallel, are arranged in zig zag in a plane, and a flexible electric heating wire 5 is inserted in the respective electric heating wire insert holes in such a manner as the entire heater 10 becomes a square spiral. The electric heating wire 5 at an end part of the flat insulator blocks 1 arranged in zig zag in a plane is covered with a tubular insulator 3 equipped with an electric heating wire insert hole. When a high frequency current is let to flow the electric heating wire 5, a heated object is heated by both resistance heating and high frequency induction heating. |
