The holder (1) has a shaft (5) comprising a connector (6) provided in a front end region (9) to directly or indirectly fasten the shaft in or at a substrate (4). A retainer plate (7) holds insulating material (2). The shaft and the retainer plate comprise a latch unit for formation of a detent connection. The latch unit is formed such that the retainer plate is moved from a rear end region (8) of the shaft in a direction of the front end region. The latch unit blocks movement of the retainer plate back in a direction of the rear end region of the shaft. An independent claim is also included for a method for fastening insulating material at a substrate.
