A screw and a method for the manufacture thereof are proposed, wherein the screw tip (4) has a lateral recess (7). Said recess (7) extends from the front region of the screw shank into the conical screw tip (4). The axial extent of the recess (7) within the cylindrical screw shank (1) is approximately equal to the axial extent of the screw tip (4). The cone tip of the conical screw tip (4) is offset laterally with respect to the screw longitudinal axis in the direction of the recess (7). The screw tip (4) can be manufactured by cold working by means of a pinching process between two pinching jaws.
