The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for a data communication using digital image processing. A method of transmitting data using digital image processing according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises the following steps: displaying a reference image with preset image quality; determining whether a confirmation signal indicating that transmission of data is possible is received; and displaying a modified reference image with image quality different from the preset image quality when determining the confirmation signal is not received. According to the present invention, data can be transmitted without a separate transceiver supporting a certain communication scheme and synchronization between a receiving end and a sending end is possible, thereby transmitting or receiving data conveniently.
