[Class 75 (i)] In a burner in which flameless combustion takes place in a series of holes 4 in a refractory brick 3 cemented into a cast-iron casing 2 forming a gas and air mixing-chamber, each hole 4 communicates with the latter through a series of smaller holes 6 to prevent backfiring. The holes 6 are preferably formed in china clay or other refractory plugs 5 cemented in the lower portion of the larger holes. The brick may be made in two horizontal portions cemented together, the lower one containing the plugs 5. Air may be supplied through an inlet 7 to a mixing-tube 9 and gas through a chamber 12 to inlets in the restricted part 8, and a spreader 10 may be provided. Dimensions of the brick are given. |
