The present disclosure relates to a patterned retarder type display device having a black strip (BS) and a method for manufacturing the same. The present disclosure suggests a patterned retarder type display device comprising: a first substrate (SU) having a display area in which unit pixels (PXL) are disposed in a matrix type arrangement and a non-display area (BZ)surrounding the display area; a second substrate (SL) joined with the first substrate by a sealant disposed in the non-display area; a liquid crystal layer (LC) disposed between the first substrate (SU) and the second substrate (SL); a plurality of a horizontal black strips (BS) disposed along a horizontal border distinguishing the unit pixels (PXL) on an outer surface of the first substrate (SU); and an outer strip (BZ) covering the non-display area on the outer surface of the first substrate (SU). In an alternative embodiment vertical black strips may also be provided. The present arrangement of black strips is intended to reduce cross-talk between left and right images when the display is used in a 3D mode. |
