481,139. Spray carburetters. DAWES, B. P. Oct. 26, 1936, No. 29004. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1935. [Class 7 (iii)] Air, entering a carburetter past a valve 7, opens a valve 18 which through a lever 30 controls a needle valve 13 regulating the fuel jet 12. The fuel is supplied by a pump through a pipe 10 and after being heated by hot air, steam or exhaust gases in a chamber 15, impinges on a conical portion 52 of the valve 13. Part of the heating medium enters the mixing chamber through an orifice 17 controlled by the valve 13. To compensate for the rarefaction of the air at high altitudes, extra air is supplied to the mixing chamber through a byepass 39 controlled by a valve 40. A second byepass 35 around the valve 7 is controlled by a valve 36 operated by a thermally sensitive element 38. |
