<p>A drainage system is provided that comprises a gully having a circumferential side wall, an outlet and a vortex brake with a vortex chamber having a chamber wall with a peripheral inlet opening and a central outlet opening, the vortex brake being arranged in the gully so that a flow path from the inside of the gully to the outlet leads through the vortex brake, and a drainpipe is connected to the outlet.
