A flux coating for a ferrous welding electrode consists of 7,5 parts calcium carbonate; 18 parts of Albany slip clay, 3 parts of rutile, 1,5 parts of manganese ore, 45,9 parts of high carbon chromium, 11,5 parts of silico manganese, 7,6 parts of low carbon ferromanganese and 5 parts of cannel coal, or 19 parts of Albany slip clay, 59,6 parts of high carbon ferro-chrome, 9,9 parts of silico manganese, 6,6 parts of low carbon ferromanganese and 4,9 parts of cannel coal, or 19 parts of Albany slip clay, 48 parts of high carbon ferro-chrome, 6 parts of silico manganese, 22 parts of low carbon ferro-manganese and 5 parts of cannel coal. The mixture is made up with sodium silicate. Cannel coal may be replaced by other highly volatile coal as described in Specification 466,926. |
