The layers are connected with one another along a section of circumference over a seam (2). The bag is designed in such a manner that the seam runs along a plane in a mounted and inflated condition. The plane is oriented diagonal or transverse to a plane stretched through a vehicle longitudinal or vehicle height direction or diagonal or transverse to a plane along which a steering wheel ring of a vehicle and/or a surface of a front seat passenger-instrument panel of the vehicle extends. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a vehicle passenger-restraint system. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Gas bag i.e. side gas bag such as seat gas bag, door gas bag and curtain gas bag, for a passenger-restraint system that is installed in a seat, a steering wheel or a front seat passenger instrument panel of a vehicle (all claimed) i.e. motor vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The bag is designed in such a manner that the seam runs along the plane in the mounted and inflated condition, where the plane is oriented diagonal or transverse to the plane stretched through the vehicle longitudinal or vehicle height direction or diagonal or transverse to the plane along which the steering wheel ring of the vehicle and/or the surface of the front seat passenger-instrument panel of the vehicle extends, so that large effective thickness of the gas bag can be realized without the need of an additional unit.
