An image based metadata information display device which makes a user conveniently obtain metadata information by changing the size of a metadata information image according to the passage of the time and displaying it when displaying an image through an image output device while displaying the metadata information on the image is disclosed. The disclosed image based metadata information display device comprises; a metadata producing part which produces metadata by extracting desire information only from an original image; an image code producing part which converts the metadata produced in the metadata producing part into an image code; an image code changing part which changes the image code produced in the image code producing part to the predetermined size; an image display control part which controls the display position of the image code which is outputted from the image code changing part and controls the indication of the original image and the image code; an image display part which indicates the original image and the image code according to the control of the image display control part.
