PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To block a current by exactly detecting an overcurrent of a battery. SOLUTION: This battery system comprises the chargeable battery 1, contactors 2 connected to the battery 1, a current sensor 21 which detects a current of the battery 1, a voltage detection circuit 22 which detects a voltage of the battery 1, and a current blocking circuit 4 which switches the contactors 2 by using the magnitude of the current detected by the current sensor 21, the determination of a charging current and a discharging current, and the voltage of the battery 1 detected by the voltage detection circuit 22. The current blocking circuit 4 turns off the contactors 2 depending on an overcurrent discharging state where the detected current of the current sensor 21 is larger than a set current, a voltage drop of the battery 1 detected by the voltage detection circuit 22 is larger than a set value, and the current sensor 21 detects the discharging current, and an overcurrent charging state where the detected current of the current sensor 21 is larger than the set current, a voltage rise of the battery 1 detected by the voltage detection circuit 22 is larger than a set value, and the current sensor 21 detects the charging current.
