[Class 118 (ii)] [Also in Group XL] In a compensator for a sound locator correcting members are provided to compensate for variations in the velocity of sound due, for instance, to variations in temperature or to alterations of the salt content of water or the moisture content of air. As shown correcting members 7, 8, 9, are insertable between the third and fourth members of the retardation line, the switch 10 selecting the units to be used. Switches 10 of several units may be coupled together and the switching positions may be marked directly with the corrections to which they apply.
