The harvester has a knife carrier that is supported transversely to a crop feed channel (9). The knife carrier is moved along extending direction. The knife carrier is arranged in a central position with respect to the crop feed channel. The knife carrier is extended half from the crop feed channel, when the knife carrier is moved reciprocally from the central position to a lateral position.
