PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To thin a magnetic encoder. SOLUTION: This magnetic encoder includes a shaft 2 supported rotatably by a housing 1, a magnet 3 fixed to the inner end 2a of the shaft 2, and a magnetic detection element 4 arranged oppositely to the magnet 3. The shaft 2 is provided with a bearing (second bearing) 7 for supporting the inner end 2a, and a recessed part 8 is formed on the inner end 2a of the shaft 2 on the inner diameter side of the bearing 7, and the magnet 3 is fixed in the recessed part 8.
