A heat insulation apparatus for slab is disclosed. Provided according to one aspect of the present invention are a heat insulation chamber having a space part for accommodating slab formed therein, and an opening part connected to the space part formed on the upper side thereof; a heat insulation cover that is disposed on the upper part of the heat insulation chamber and which opens and closes the opening part; a position detecting sensor that is disposed on the heat insulation cover and which detects the slab advancing to the opening part and the existence of a transfer unit; and an operation unit which operates the heat insulation cover when the existence of the slab or the transfer unit is detected by the position detecting sensor.
