The invention provides a machine tool, wherein the chip discharge treatment of a machine tool equipped with a knife rest at the lower side of a main shaft is improved.The bearing-surface of the processing equipment on the bed of the machine tool is equipped with a main shaft seat and a low position knife rest.The low position knife rest moves along the Z-axis direction and the X-axis direction under the action of a moving mechanism for the low position knife rest.The moving mechanism for the low position knife rest comprises a Z-axis travelling carriage movable along the Z-axis direction and an X-axis travelling carriage. The X-axis travelling carriage equipped with the low position knife rest is movable along the X-axis direction relative to the Z-axis travelling carriage.According to the structure of the Z-axis travelling carriage, the exterior and the interior of the main body are respectively equipped with a base portion at the bearing surface of the processing equipment and a guiding portion for guiding the X-axis travelling carriage.The plane shape of the main body is formed in a shape that the front end of the upper part of the X axis direction is narrow and both sides of the Z-axis direction descend when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the bearing surface of the processing equipment.The lower part of the X axis direction is formed in a way that the front end thereof is not narrow with a non-narrowed lower side or the front end thereof is narrow with a narrowing rate smaller than a semicircle. |
