PURPOSE: A prismatic secondary battery is provided to improve operation reliability of a safety plate, to restrain deformation of a battery case generated at processing the safety plate. CONSTITUTION: A prismatic secondary battery comprises an electrode assembly consisting of a positive electrode(34), a negative electrode(32), and a separator(36) sealed in a prismatic battery case. The battery case comprises a rectangular case main body(40) formed of a metal material, a case cap which is combined with an opened top of the case body, and comprising an electrode terminal. The safety plate is formed on the case main body. The safety plate is a linear notch groove formed on a location comprising a vertical central axis on at least one side of the case body. The notch groove comprises a region discontinuously reducing a residual thickness in a part of vertical central axis of the case main body. |
