The present invention relates to a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery and manufacturing method of same in which the positive electrode active material is lithium-nickel-manganese based oxide LiNixMn2-xO4 (0<x≤0.5) in a spinel crystal structure and the surface of the oxide is processed with acid. The manganese elution at a high temperature is reduced by the present invention to significantly improving the lifetime of the lithium secondary battery.
