The method involves comparing reaction absorption speed with normally expected absorption reaction speed if absorption reaction speed is lower than the expected reaction speed at an end of time interval. Heating of a main storage cartridge (11) is stopped. An auxiliary storage cartridge (13) is heated to increase pressure of the auxiliary cartridge up to a predetermined pressure value. Quantity of reducing agent is injected to the auxiliary cartridge and upstream of a catalyst (14) of a catalytic reduction system (10) based on predetermined flow.
