[Class 52 (ii)] In a pivoted back-rest a, the pivot or pivots c<1> is or are enclosed by means of a cover plate c attached to the back-rest and provided with a slot or aperture c<3> for the supporting arm b. The back-rest may comprise a backing a<2> of plywood and a pad a<3> of rubber &c. covered with fabric or leather. The pivoting means may comprise a U-shaped bracket c<2> attached to the cover plate c, through which passes a spindle c<1> around which the flattened upper end of the supporting arm b is bent. The cover plate c is of bulbous or curved form and is attached to the backing a<2> by screws c'. |
