The invention relates to a vehicle passenger protection system comprising an airbag (20) which is housed, in the folded state, in a backrest (14) of a vehicle seat (12) and extends, in the unfolded state, between two seats (12) of the vehicle. Said airbag (20) comprises a thorax area which laterally covers the thorax of a vehicle passenger (40), and a head area which laterally covers the head of the vehicle passenger (40). The head area extends counter to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle until behind the headrest (18) of the vehicle seat (12) and laterally covers the entire headrest (18). |
