PURPOSE: A voice coil motor driver, a terminal device including the same, and an error detecting method thereof are provided to detect an error of a voice coil motor on a module in a convenient way which makes a fixed current flow in an output end when the voice coil motor is initially driven. CONSTITUTION: An amplifier (440) supplies a driving current to a voice coil motor. A reference generating unit (460) generates a reference current. A sensor (450) detects the error of the voice coil motor by using a reference voltage according to the reference current and the output end voltage of the voice coil motor. The sensor includes a first sensor (451) which senses the opening of the voice coil motor and a second sensor (452) which senses the short circuit of the voice coil motor. A control unit (420) controls the reference generating unit in order to generate a reference current when initially driving the voice coil motor. The control unit determines whether the voice coil motor has an error or not based on the detection result of the sensor.
