The transport unit such as conveyor (12) has recess (30) for receiving the fold portion of the composite cardboard container (1). The two lateral faces of the bottom surface of the cardboard container are arranged on the transport plane (TE) of the transport unit. The width of the recess is less than the width of the cardboard container. The depth of the recess is greater than the depth of the fold portion of the cardboard container.
