PURPOSE: An automatic extraction device and method are provided to control the extraction amount of fluid by accurately measuring the height of a container. CONSTITUTION: An automatic extraction device comprises a laser generating unit (11), an image sensor (12), a fluid height measuring unit (20), and a control unit (30). The laser generating unit irradiates a container with slit light. The image sensor forms a two-dimensional profile of the container by measuring the slit light reflected from the container. The fluid height measuring unit measures the height of fluid supplied to the container. The control unit detects the height of the container from the two-dimensional profile and sets the supply amount of the fluid according to the heights of the container and the fluid.
