PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle head-up display device having no risk of the erroneous operation of a display element.SOLUTION: A vehicle head-up display device comprises a liquid crystal display element (display element) 22 for radiating display light L accompanied by the lighting of a light source 21, a concave mirror 41 for reflecting the display light L, and a housing 50 for accommodating the liquid crystal display element 22 and the concave mirror 41, and performs display to a user 14 by projecting the display light L reflected by the concave mirror 41 to front glass 13 through a light translucent cover 54 formed at the housing 50. The vehicle head-up display device also comprises an external light detection element 61 which detects the illuminance of external light radiated to the light translucent cover 54 through the front glass 13 and outputs illuminance data, and a control means 64 which adjusts the luminance of the light source 21 on the basis of the illuminance data. When it is determined that the illuminance data have exceeded a prescribed threshold on the basis of date and time information, the position information of a vehicle, and the information of the progressing direction of the vehicle, the control means 64 lights off the light source 21. |
