PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform reliable mark determination on the basis of mark detection information in a packaging machine.SOLUTION: A mark detection device in a packaging machine comprises: a line sensor 11 disposed opposite a conveyance passage of a film to which marks are provided at regular intervals; a transmission means 1 for transmitting a signal in relation to a film feeding amount; a storage part 14 storing each pixel data corresponding to the position of the mark obtained by scanning the band-like film during conveyance by a line sensor in association with a signal of the transmission means 1; a first determination part 18 determining whether or not a value of a brightness level obtained by each of the pixel data is within a range of an upper limit threshold and a lower limit threshold set as a range to be mark information; and a second determination part 19 determining whether or not it is the information indicating the mark on the basis of the signal in relation to the film feeding amount and an integrated value of the pixels for each line determined to be within the range by the first determination part 18.
