A drum-type washing machine has disposed thereupon: a drum (3) which is rotatably supported by a rotation axle which is either horizontal or oblique; a water tank (2) which houses the drum (3); a ring-shaped container (17) which is positioned in the drum (3); and a rotation body (8) which is movable within the ring-shaped container (17). The drum-type washing machine further comprises: a drive motor (4) which rotationally drives the drum (3); a current sensing unit which senses current of the drive motor (4); an oscillation sensing unit (12) which senses an oscillation of the water tank (2); and a control unit (6) which controls the drive motor (4), etc. At or below a resonance rotation speed and when rotating at a rotation speed in which centrifugal force acting on laundry in the drum (3) is greater than gravity, the control unit (6) senses by the oscillation sensing unit (12) the oscillation of the water tank (2), and if the degree of oscillation which is sensed by the oscillation sensing unit (12) is lower than a prescribed degree, controls the rotation speed of the drum (3), and causes a scattering of tumbling bodies (8).
