The damper (1) has a cylinder (2) provided with an oil-filled work chamber (3), where a damping piston (5) is arranged in the work chamber. A piston rod (6) is displaceable in a gas-filled counter-pressure chamber (4), where the work and counter-pressure chambers are separated by separator pistons (8). A cylindrical portion (9) is arranged co-axial to the counter-pressure chamber and comprises a secondary volume that communicates with the counter-pressure chamber via an aperture (10) in the cylinder. A spring retainer ring (11) and a damper retainer are arranged at the cylindrical portion.
