The skid protection stud and a car tire provided with it, has a firm construction and is fitted in a stud hole pre-prepared in the tire wear layer. The stud has a body consisting of a first material and comprises a ball flange and a shaft part. In the body is a hard ceramic piece comprising a second material. The cross-sectional shape of the hard ceramic piece is an irregular hexagon and includes at right-angles to the stud length a first pair of long sides and opposite to which is a second pair of long sides. It has inner angles which open towards each other between each pair of sides and which are at least 130 degrees and at most 170 degrees. Two short sides are provided with a longitudinal distance between them, which is greater than a width distance between the first and second corner points.
