PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid oxide fuel cell that executes a shutdown stop while sufficiently inhibiting oxidation of fuel cell unit cells.SOLUTION: A solid oxide fuel cell (1) includes: a fuel cell module (2); a fuel supply device (38); a water supply device (28); an oxidant gas supply device (45); a reformer (20); a fuel/exhaust gas passage that guides fuel/exhaust gas from the fuel supply device (38) through the reformer (20) and a fuel electrode to the outside; and a controller (110) that has a shutdown stop circuit. The fuel/exhaust gas passage functions as mechanical pressure holding means that maintains pressure on an oxidant gas electrode side in a fuel cell module higher than atmospheric pressure, and maintains pressure on the fuel electrode side higher than the pressure on the oxidant gas electrode side, after a shutdown stop is executed and until the temperature of the fuel electrode decreases to a predetermined oxidation preventive temperature. |
