PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism capable of efficiently saccharifying herbaceous biomass and woody biomass to reduce the production cost of bioethanol, a secretion having herbaceous and woody biomass saccharification activity, which is produced by the microorganism, and usages of the microorganism and secretion.SOLUTION: A filamentous fungus belongs to genus Penicillium and externally excretes a secretion having cellulose saccharification activity and hemicellulose saccharification activity. A liquid composition having cellulose saccharification activity and hemicellulose saccharification activity is obtained by liquid culturing the filamentous fungus and removing the fungus body from the liquid medium. A biomass saccharification method includes bringing the liquid composition into contact with herbaceous biomass or woody biomass. |
