PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and an image forming apparatus, and a shading correction control method and program capable of supporting an individual variation and a change over time of shading characteristics, and performing shading correction in an easy and accurate manner.SOLUTION: A distribution of a light amount ratio on design or detected in advance to different image height positions on a surface to be scanned is stored as a shading characteristic table; the amount of reflection light from the surface to be scanned or the amount of incident light on the surface to be scanned to at least three image height positions on the surface to be scanned is detected, and a distribution of the light amount ratio is calculated by function approximation; and shading correction is performed by controlling light source means on the basis of the stored distribution of the light amount ratio and the calculated distribution of the light amount ratio. |
