PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for manufacturing a secondary battery, capable of preventing the generation of a gap in a boundary between a battery case and a cover plate upon laser welding.SOLUTION: A device is provided for manufacturing a secondary battery 1 that includes a case 2 having an opening 2a and a cover plate 4 for sealing the opening 2a and that has a housing produced by the cover plate 4 being welded to the opening 2a of the case 2 by a laser. The device for manufacturing the secondary battery includes a fixing jig 10 that presses each side wall adjacent to the opening 2a of the case 2 and that has four pressing members 11, 12, 13, 14 for fixing the case 2. Among the four pressing members 11, 12, 13, 14, the pressing members 11, 12 for pressing side walls 2b, 2c corresponding to long sides of the case 2 are configured to be further separated into a plurality of pressing pieces 11a, 11b, 11c and a plurality of pressing pieces 12a, 12b, 12c, where the respective pressing pieces 11a, 11b, 11c and the respective pressing pieces 12a, 12b, 12c can be independently displaced. |
