PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which reduces wrinkles and a flap shift of a recording medium like an envelope and allows achievement of satisfactory fixing performance, and an image forming apparatus including the same.SOLUTION: A fixing device 5 includes a pressing pad 60 which is inscribed to a fixing belt 26 to press the fixing belt 26 to a pressure roller 19, and a slide surface 60a on which an inner peripheral surface of the fixing belt 26 is slid is formed on a surface, facing the fixing belt 26, of the pressing pad 60. The slide surface 60a has a flat part 61 substantially parallel with a paper carrying direction A and an arcuate part 63 which is bent toward the pressure roller 19 below the flat part 61 in the paper carrying direction A. A switching mechanism 70 switches between a first mode of forming a fixing nip part N1 by pressing to the flat part 61 and the arcuate part 63 and a second mode of forming a fixing nip N2 by pressing to only the flat part 61. |
