The device has a drive rotating a pulse wheel disk (PRS.2) around a stationary rotational axis so that a produced magnetic field is rotated around a rotational axis. A conducting body (AS) is successively moved by the rotating magnetic field produced by the pulse wheel disk while a retaining device (AE) i.e. cross belt sorter, is moved along a transport path. A Lorentz force is produced by stopping the conducting body in the produced magnetic field, and acted on the conducting body so that movement of the conducting body and the retaining device is caused along the path. An independent claim is also included for a transport method for transporting objects along a transport path.
