PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for recycling an optical fiber cable, in which each of constituent materials can be separated/recovered from the optical fiber cable and the cost required to separate the materials is reduced.SOLUTION: A method for recycling an optical fiber cable comprises the steps of: throwing the optical fiber cable 20 in a reaction warehouse 3 of a batchwise superheated steam treatment unit 2; evaporating water in an electric boiler 1; heating the saturated steam, which is evaporated in the electric boiler 1, in a superheated steam generation unit 6; and exposing the optical fiber cable 20 to the generated superheated steam to heat a coated plastic material and soften the coated plastic material of the optical fiber cable 20. |
