One embodiment of the present invention pertains to an image processing method in which: mask processing is carried out on an abnormal recording element on the basis of abnormal recording element information (10); input data (14) is converted so that pixels that are formed by the abnormal recording element are excluded; quantization processing is carried out for converting the converted input image data (16) into image data having a smaller number of gradations than the number of gradations possessed by the converted input image data; and each of the pixels that constitute the post-quantization processing image data is assigned to a normal recording element.
