The apparatus has a freezing storage compartment (2) cooled by a vaporizer (5) i.e. cold wall vaporizer, which is connected with a compressor (7) in a refrigerant circuit. A control unit (11) is connected with a vaporizer temperature sensor (13), and switched-on in an operation mode i.e. super cooling mode, of the compressor when temperature detected by the sensor exceeds switching-on temperature. The control unit is reversible into another operation mode in which the control unit switches the compressor, when a predetermined cycle time is elapsed from the preceding switching operation.
