PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve encoding efficiency by using further appropriate probability information.SOLUTION: An image decoding method includes a decoding step (S841) for successively decoding a plurality of blocks using probability information. In the decoding step (S841), further, after a first decoding object block that is a decoding object block in the plurality of blocks is decoded and before a second decoding object block that is the next decoding object block is decoded, the probability information is updated while depending on data on the first decoding object block. In the decoding step (S841), a third decoding object block which is a decoding object block after decoding the first decoding object block and is a decoding object block different from the second decoding object block, in the plurality of blocks, is decoded using the probability information updated while depending on data on the third decoding object block and the first decoding object block being adjacent at an upper side. |
