[Class 53] Accumulator negative plates are made by mixing active material, for example cadmium hydrate or finely-divided cadmium and'iron, with copper or other metal in dendritic crystal. line form which serves to support the active material, the mixture being pressed in the dry state into supporting frames. The powdered copper may be obtained by electrolysis with a high current density of a solution of copper sulphate or by the action of aluminium powder on copper sulphate solution and the active material may be obtained by electrolysis of iron and cadmium salt solutions. The copper or other supporting metal may comprise from 25 to 75 per cent of the mixture. |
